About how Genesis 1:26...
has become a church roadblock for churchmembers & followers!

In a detailed e-mail exchange with a woman in America I tried to explain with the Bible who GOD is, who Jesus is and who the Holy Spirit is accordingly to a truely biblical foundation ánd the Teachings of Christ and apostles. So: not with my own writing or opinions, but with Gods Word through the Spirit of GOD. You may think: "no worries; you may be certain 'the message will get across!. Unfortunately this is not so, because this "church-lady" wrote me "that we may have come to a roadblock!" and she used Genesis 1:26 to back it up...

No church yet a churchfollower...
Also this woman is a bold example of how people can be living without a church or have never visited church before, but still clearly have church-teachings in their lives. And they experience several passages in the Bible as 'roadblocks', which are caused by that church-teachings so you may call them 'church-roadblocks'. She actually is one of many people acting so and ending so.

She literally wrote me "that we now have a roadblock" when I showed her from the Bible that GOD created Christ before the Creation (Psalms 2:7, Proverbs 8:22-31, John 17:5)!

Even Proverbs 8:27-30 was to no avail...
As a reply to her "blocked-statement" I firstly send her Proverbs 8:27-30 in which you can read that during the Creation Jesus was at Gods side as His "Master Workman":

Clearly Christ -the son of GOD- was present ánd helping when GOD created everything ('workman'). That is also why the Bible says in Colossians 1:16 that 'everything was created through him and unto him'.

Plural 'gods' & singular 'human'?!?
When one looks closer at Genesis 1:26 the used Hebrew word for 'GOD' is the plural 'Elohiym' <0430>, which actually means 'gods', 'the eternal living' or 'devine family'. So the translation 'GOD' doesnot fit here, because then 'YHWH' or 'El' or 'Eloah' in singular would have been used yet that is not the case! Why the Bible uses 'plural gods' we already revealed in "GOD amongst gods"?!?.

For all people that do not know the word 'Elohiym' or do not understand its meaning luckily there is also Proverbs 8:30 explaining that both GOD ánd Jesus are defined by that word and in that way by no means 'singular' (as in 'a trinity-churchgodhead') but in 'plural' by means of 1 GOD ánd 1 Lord (as you can read in 1Corinthians 8:6). Jesus was the Master Workman of GOD during the Creation. That is why 'let us make man' is right.

What is suprising: the Scripture uses 'singular' when referring to what is to be created: "man"; the used word is "adam" <0120>! So singular 'man' in this passage is correctly used, but the referring 'them' in Genesis 1:26 isnot. The same you can read in Genesis 1:27; "GOD ('Elohiym'; plural) created man" ('adam'; singular). Yet a faulty referance 'He (singular) created him (= 'adam' = correct!) and He created them (=plural = incorrect).

We know from the Bible that Adam was the first human created and that the first woman was created out of Adam; his rib was made into the woman Eve. Adam in that way was both the first man and woman to be. So GOD with Adam created 'him' and not 'them' !

Clearly Gods Word uses plural when meant plural, but also singular when meant singular. When Christ would have been the same devine being as 'the singular GOD' the Bible wouldnot have used plural 'Elohiym', but YHWH, El or Eloah instead.

This shows us also that the "church-trinity-godhead-in-one-God" isnot biblical at all;

  • not with the plural 'Elohiym',
  • not with how Jesus works at Gods side during the Creation and
  • not with one GOD ánd one Lord according to 1Corinthians 8:6!

"PS-mail" referring to 'the invisable GOD' and 'visable Jesus'...
Even though Proverbs 8:21-30 is very clear in explaining Genesis 1:26 I felt the need of sending the American woman a PS-mail also. I realised that she might need an explanation of 'to our image' too.

Plural 'Elohiym' also means plural 'images'. And we know from the Bible that GOD is Spirit and consequently invisable (John 4:24). Yet Jesus is very visable indeed. When Adam would have been created according to the invisable GOD all humans would have been so, but they are visable instead; just like Jesus is visable. But humans also have a spiritual component; invisable to the eye.

In that way humans were created to the image of GOD ánd to the image of Jesus!

Churchblock or rather a temporary Bible-shock?!?
With this 'teaserline' I tried to get her thinking about her current condition. Did she really want to continue a church-roadblock against the Bible or does she want to start realizing that it actually is the Bible that stagnated her current church-teachings?!

I didnot get any reply sofar of her, but I do hope that she will be thinking, searching and testing all I have showed her from the Bible against her current beliefs. And that her church-roadblock and Bible shock may fanish and be replaced by a truely biblical belief according to the Teachings of Christ and the apostles.
