And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had made. And He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made. God gave this day His special blessing and called it "Sabbath" (= day of rest). The Sabbath is the Day of God and of His Son, Jesus.
The character of God
God is more than a Creator only. Jesus gave God a face by His mercyful actions towards us. He taught us, he cured us,healed us, he restored our covenant with God through is death at the cross.
God showed us, by sacreficing His own Son, how much he loves us. How much he cares for us.(Would you sacrefice your own son for another being ?) In the first section of the Bible we get to know God as the educator of men. In the second part of the Bible Jesus shows us our loving God. Our Father in heaven. He shows us His Character.
God: our Father in heaven
All educators have to set rules and examples/tests for their children, because else they might hurt themselves or others, because they have to stay healthy, because they have to learn useful things to get by in life.
These rules, of course, are made from a loving heart. You want your loved ones to enjoy life and have the best possible future.
In the exact similar way God set out rules for us; Because He is our Father and we are His children. The rules ? Well, they are known as "The 10-Commandments of God". The tests ? They are our every-day life-questions and choices in which we can apply our Christian faith. And hopefully our actions will be according the commandments of Jesus. Loving and caring for our neigbour.
Jesus ?
Jesus is the Son of the living God (read Mattew 16 verse 16). But actions of Jesus tell us who Jesus really is and what the character of God is like.
All stories in The New Testament, the second part of the Bible, show us Jesus through the eyes of His disciples.
They tell us who Jesus is and what he does with the help of God and The Holy Spirit of God.
Jesus gave all His Love and attention to us humans. Love in healing us, curing our wounds.
He cured people from blindness, paralysis, deseases and mental illness.
He also showed us that His Love goes beyond death by waking a little girl and a man from death.
But also by educating his disciples (in a very patient way). Jesus gave the truthful interpretation of Gods Word in this way to all futere men, so we could be saved. By Him and through Him. From the hands of His disciples.
Jezus restored our bond with God
By the disobedience of Adam and Eve the then existing bond with God was violated. God took a part of them, in them, away and placed them outside paradise.
But God didn't forget his children. And for their good he gave them a set of rules to live by. These rules, the 10 Commandments, and the given right by God to them, to make their own choices in life, should give Adam and Eve and all future men a save passage through a life as God had meant it to be for all His children.
But Gods commandments were not followed and therefore His rules became a "transgression-meter" only. Men forgot the love behind the rules.
But Jesus was sent to us. And he repaired the brokeness in the relation with our God.
On the one hand He gave His own life at the cross and doing so he took all our transgressions from us. On the other hand He gave us the choice and possibility to be forgiven for committed transgression by acknowledging Him in our lives and asking Him for forgiveness.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
By asking Jesus to forgive your specific transgressions you will be washed clean and so you can come to God again clean. Clean in prayer with and clean in direct conversation with Him face-to-face when Jesus comes back to us as he promised.
God resurrected Jesus from the cross-death. And He was meant to be the first resurrected from the death to our example.
When Jesus returns on the clouds, were everyone will see Him, he will resurrect all who died. Just like God resurrected Jesus. Everyone will rise from the grave as if they did not die before !
Everyone who believes in Jesus Christ and is baptisted by immersion and lives his life according the commandments of the Father will be redeemed of all Sin and will receive eternal life !
